Obituary

Vallie Brown Meadows, 92, of Burgaw passed gently from her earthly life on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Davis HealthCare Center from natural causes. She was born July 13, 1922 in Onslow County, one of eleven children of John Edward and Lucy Horne Brown. Also lovingly remembered is her husband, Raymond Meadows; infant son, Raymond Douglas Meadows and daughter, Deanna Meadows Kissner, all who preceded Vallie in death.

Vallie is survived by her daughter, Brenda Meadows Stock; sons, Kelly Meadows (Shirley) and Linwood Meadows (Barbara); grandchildren, Christopher Meadows (Kristi), Erica Haines (Brandon), John Maertens, Jr. (Brandy), Renee Taylor, Andrea Boyette (Alan), Jennifer Meadows, Emily Willis and Eric Kissner (Barbara "Cricket"); thirteen great grandchildren; brother, Jarvis Brown (Faye), Johnny Brown (Alice), and Ronnie Brown (Beryl); and sisters, Frances Smith, Agnes Sullivan and Yvonne Scott (Alton).

Vallie and her husband, Raymond, managed the Pender County jail for 23 years. She was a long standing member of Burgaw Baptist Church where she held several positions of service over many years. She will be truly missed and remembered for her steadfast faith in the Lord, her kind heart and giving spirit.

The family will receive friends 10 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Burgaw Baptist Church Fellowship Hall with service at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Nathan Morton will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadows-Lanier Cemetery, Maple Hill. Casketbearers will be Christopher Meadows, John Maertens, Jr., Brandon Haines, Eric Kissner, Alan Boyette and William Foster.
