Vera Howard, age 91, of Hampstead peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Woodbury Wellness Center in Hampstead where she has resided and been lovingly taken care of for the past five years.

She was born January 27, 1919 in Hampstead to Amos and Eula Batson Howard. Vera has spent all of her life in her beloved community of Hampstead surrounded by family that she loved so dearly. Remembered are her sister, Sally Durner; sister-in-law, Dot Howard; brothers, Clifton, Lewis, Elwood and Guy Howard and brother-in-law, Archie Norris.

Vera is survived by her sister, Rosa H. Norris of Alabaster, AL; sister-in-law, Jane Howard of Hampstead, Millie Howard of Rose Hill and Mable Howard of Cary; and many nephews and nieces.

Vera was a faithful member of Barlow-Vista Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, at Barlow-Vista Baptist Church with The Rev. Robert McGraw officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Casket bearers will be nephews of Vera Howard.

The family will receive friends on Friday 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
