Virginia "Jenny" Rivenbark Blanton, 71, of Watha was carried by angels from her earthy life to her heavenly home on Friday, September 28, 2012 with loving family by her bedside.

She was born August 2, 1941 in Pender County, the daughter of the late David N. and Fannie English Rivenbark Casteen. Also remembered are her daughter, Brenda Blanton; sisters, Martha Rivenbark and Mary Rivenbark; and brothers, Carl, Horace, and Roland Rivenbark all who preceded Jenny in death.

Jenny is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Wayne E. Blanton; daughter, Debbie Blanton; sons, Johnny Blanton and Barry Blanton (Lisa); grandsons, Kevin Blanton, David "Tater" Blanton, Tony Murray (Samantha) and Michael Blanton; great grandchildren, Alex Blanton, Jayden Blanton, Lyric Murray and Ryan Murray; brothers, Tommy Rivenbark, Jimmy Rivenbark (Mamie), and Billy O. Rivenbark (Melba); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jenny was a longtime dedicated member of Forest Hills Baptist Church who served her Lord and loved her church family dearly. For many years she was employed with Myers Craft of Burgaw.

Jenny was a devoted and loving wife of 54 years to Wayne, and together they had a very happy and strong bonded marriage. She was affectionately called Mema by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Always willing to help others, Jenny was known as a loving and caring person. Being a wonderful homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, tending her chickens, loved cooking, spoiling her grandkids and most of all caring for her family she loved so dearly. Jenny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Forest Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy Cook officiating.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the church fellowship hall until hour of the service.
