Obituary

Virginia Peterson Gore, 91, of Wilmington and formerly of Kelly passed gently from her earthly life on Friday, April 26, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born November 29, 1921 in Bladen County, the daughter of the late Claude and Mollie Potter Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, DeLavis Gore and daughters, Faye Gore Nash and Debra Gore Freeman.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gore Lea (James) of Carrollton, VA; son, James Ronald "Ronnie" Gore of Burgaw; eight grandchildren, Lisa Tyson, Scott Leitch, Steven Leitch, Joseph Freeman, James Lea III, Tammy Moore, Rhonda Schultz and Bill Nash; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.

Virginia was a faithful member of Long Leaf Baptist where she served the Lord at church as well as in her daily walk. She loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Virginia always had a smile on her face, a helping hand stretched out, and a heart ready to show the love of Christ within her. At the age of 91 Virginia, living in her own home, was blessed in so many ways. Virginia blessed the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and kindness.

Graveside service will be at 12 noon on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 16550 NC Hwy 53, Kelly, with Mr. Jim Coats officiating. Casketbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons of Virginia Gore.

The family will receive friends at Trinity United Methodist one hour prior to the graveside service on Monday.
