Obituary

Virginia Mathews Mote, age 82, left her residence in Willard on Saturday, March 1, 2008 to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Mote was born April 12, 1925 in Sampson County to the late William Edward and Lillie Smith Mathews. She was predeceased by her sister, Clara Davis and her brothers, Henry Mathews and Johnny Mathews.

She was an active member of Penile Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

Surviving are her devoted husband of sixty-one years, Edward Mote of the home; her loving sons, Ellis Glenn Mote of Willard and Dennis Edward Mote of Wallace; her grandsons, who were the light of her life, Jonathan Edward Mote and Stephen Edward Mote; sister, Eloise Whaley and husband, Johnny of Wallace, brother, William "Bill" Mathews and wife, Alma of Wallace and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Tommy Blanton officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service on Tuesday until 9:00 p.m. at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Billy Whaley, Gary Foy, Jay Farrior, Jerry Moore, Charles Futrell and J.L. Giddeons.
