Virginia Pearl "Polly" Skipper, 91, of Leland, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Brunswick Novant Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 24, 1932, in Brunswick County, to the late Willie Wooten Henry and the late Orena Clemmons Henry.

Polly was the oldest, long-time member of Farmers Chapel Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, loved to grow flowers and work in her garden. She loved animals.

Polly is survived by her son, Larry Herbert Skipper and wife, Doris, of Leland; daughter, Jeanette Skipper, of Leland; and a brother, David Henry of San Antonio, TX.

In addition to her parents, Polly was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hoover Skipper; her son, Dennis Lee Skipper; her brother, Willie Bryan Henry; her sisters, Margaret Mintz and Doris Bowman; and son-in-law, Phil Eaton.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Farmers Chapel Baptist Church in Leland with Pastor Ray Mintz, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Farmers Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
