Walter Eugene Wilkinson, 73, passed from his earthly life on Thursday, August 15, 2013 in Burgaw, NC. He was born November 17, 1939 in Eldorado, IL, the son of the late Denzil and Betty Bratcher Wilkinson. He was also preceded in death by daughter, Rhonda Wilkinson Harrell; grandson, Zachery Harrell and sister, Judie Wilkinson Steinhauser.

Walter "Gene" is survived by his children, Pamela Wilkinson Bruns (Kenneth) of Currie, Carrie Wilkinson Marin of St. Charles, IL, Michael Wilkinson of Elgin, IL; Nathan Wilkinson (Brandi) of Nebraska, Rebecca Wilkinson and Jacob Wilkinson both of Las Vegas, NV; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brother, William "Joe" Wilkinson (Alice) of Arizona and many extended family and friends.

He retired after working over 38 years with Western Electric in Carol Stream, IL. After his retirement he worked part-time with Orkin, Inc for several years. Gene enjoyed having the opportunity to work as an extra in a number of movies with actors Robert Downey, Jr., Jamie Presley and Sean Young, which he met personally. He will always be remembered as a funny and likeable man.
