Wanda Marie
Cain
July 8, 1949 – May 22, 2026
Sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — a woman who loved deeply and was deeply loved.
Wanda Marie Robinson Cain, 76, of Burgaw, NC, went to be with the Lord on the morning of May 22, 2026. Wanda was born in Bladen County, NC, in the very house where she grew up. She married the love of her life, James Cain, on September 21, 1968. Together, they built a loving family that included two children, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Wanda was an avid softball player in her young adult years, a constant cheerleader for her community, and a mother to any child who needed one. She opened her arms and home to anyone around her and made a lasting impression on everyone she met. To be loved by Wanda was a powerful gift. She loved fiercely and was loved by all those around her. Wanda faithfully supported her children and their teammates at every practice and game she attended, encouraging a love for sports that carried through to her great-grandchildren.
Wanda held many jobs throughout her life, but the two most important roles to her were being a mother and grandmother. She loved being a mother, but she truly cherished being a grandmother. With all four of her granddaughters, she formed a special bond by teaching them life lessons such as how to make the best foods, how to shop, and most importantly, what it means to be a good human being.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Emma Robinson, and by three siblings: Ruth Johnson, Bell Bollinger, and Linda Robinson Smith.
Wanda is survived by her loving family, including her siblings, Faye Hinson, Brenda Fritz, and Ennis Robinson; her husband, James Cain; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Cherie Cain; her daughter and son-in-law, Tracie and Kevin Dockery; her four granddaughters, Caitlyn Salituri, Kayla Greenough, Haylie Roosdett, and Chelbi Brown; and her five great-grandchildren, Kaylie and Kayden Greenough, Marley Salituri, Ember Roosdett, and Olive Brown. Wanda also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who cherished and loved her deeply.
Wanda leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, dedication, and compassion that will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by the friends and family who surrounded her and will always be fondly remembered.
