Wilbur Badger "Dude" Usher, age 82, of Teachey passed away Saturday, March 19, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Wilmington.

He was born in Duplin County on June 17, 1934 and was the son of the late Leo and Alice Brice Usher. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Francis, Marvin, Earl, Edwin and C.J. and his sisters, Lula, Maydee, Betty and Ruby.

Surviving is his devoted children, Becky Lockamy and husband Jimmy of Wallace, Denise Harrell, Cindy Harrell and Ronnie Usher, all of Teachey; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brothers, Hallie Usher and Howard Usher, of Rose Hill; special friends, Ann Ezzell and Abbie Sholar and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Wilbur or "Dude" as he was affectionately known, was a loving daddy and caring granddaddy and brother who loved his family dearly. He was once a hard worker who enjoyed his job at Nash Johnsons where he worked many, many years. Being a people's person, Dude spent a lot of time at Wallace Walmart talking and meeting with friends. He enjoyed mowing grass, riding his golf cart but he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Dude will surely be missed but treasured memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Jimmy Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
