William "Bill" Harvey Caton III, age 65, of Wilmington died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 12, 1942 in Kinston, the son of the late William Harvey Caton, Jr. and Mavis Wood Caton. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Christopher Wood Caton.

Surviving are his wife of thirty-six years, Patsy Meeks Caton of the home; daughter, Kimberly DeVane Barnhill (Matthew) of Atkinson; son, William H. Caton IV (Megan) of Wilmington; grandchildren, Vance Barnhill, Lanie Barnhill and William Christopher Caton; sister, Mikki Caton Blanton (Stephen) of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Caton was a dedicated member of Kings Chapel Baptist Church where he served as church treasurer for a number of years. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa.

Bill was a devoted husband and loving daddy, PaPa, brother and friend. Being blessed with a love for music and a God given musical talent, Bill played the drums in several local bands. He enjoyed hunting and being outdoors in God's beautiful world. He was an accomplished chef, noted for his Buttermilk Pound Cakes. Bill will be remembered for his wonderful smile, gentle laughter and giving spirit. Fond memories of Bill will always remain in the hearts of family and friends.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Morton and The Rev. Ronie Davis officiating.

Burial will follow in Meeks Family Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Kelly Lloyd, Johnny Lloyd, Christian Norris, Julio Picasso, Lonnie Merritt, Thomas Danford, Kevin Teachey, and Jeff Meeks.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
