Obituary

William Archie Giddeons, Jr., 68, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal home on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 15, 1948 in Pender County and was the son of the late William Archie and Naomi Willoughby Giddeons. Also lovingly remembered is his brother, Terry Giddeons who preceded William in death.

William proudly served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.

William was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather, brother and friend. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was his family. He loved people and never met a stranger. With a giving heart and gentle spirit, he was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever it was needed. William was not oppose to hard work and he was a 'jack of all trades" and a "master craftsman". He succeeded at most everything he did and there wasn't much he wouldn't attempt. His grandchildren were the apple of his eyes and as one of them quoted, "he was the best Pa ever". His family with great pride called him, "THE MAN" and he truly was a man of integrity and wisdom. William will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Surviving is his loving wife of 31 years, Kay Henderson Giddeons; children, Billy Giddeons and Toni of Wallace, Melissa G. Vann and Bradley of Wallace and Katelyn Toler and Anthony of Rose Hill; grandchildren; Bailey Giddeons and fiancé, Justin Woodcock, Ashton Duff, Madi Giddeons, Caroline Moore, Emma Grace Giddeons; step-grandchildren, Jordan Vann, Kobe Vann, Jackson Vann; special and constant canine companion, "Brown"; brothers, J. L. Giddeons and Diane of Willard; half- brother, Sydney Boney of Leland; sister, Carolyn Swaine of Williamsburg, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved William dearly.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Tommy Blanton and the Reverend Calvin Malpass officiating.

Entombment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park Mausoleum, Watha.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at William and Kay's home.
