Obituary

William Edward Lockamy, 81, of Harrells passed peacefully from his earthly life to his eternal rest on Monday, August 13, 2012 at The E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington.

He was born September 27, 1930 in Wilmington, the son of the late John Robert and Rosa Catlett Lockamy. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Barnhill Lockamy; sisters, Mae Raines, Cornelia Mintz and Virginia Rae Burton; and brother, Robert Lockamy.

William is survived by his daughters, Christine Bigger of Blythe, GA and Teresa Bjerk (Terry) of Hammond, LA; sons, Michael Lockamy (Georgie) of Lebanon, OH, Donald Lockamy of Harrells and Stephen O. Lockamy (Fawn) of Harrells; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Joe Lockamy of Wilmington; and many extended family and friends.

Mr. Lockamy served his country honorably in the US Navy and US Army during the Korean Conflict.

William's smile would light up one's day. During his illness his faith in the Lord was strengthened. Cherished memories of William will forever remain in our hearts.

Graveside funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with The Rev. Wayne Bateman officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 10 and NC National Guard Honor Guards.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
