William "Bill" Edward Mathews, age 91, of Wallace and formerly of Harrells passed from this life to his new home in Heaven on Thursday, June 5, 2008.

Mr. Mathews was born February 19, 1917 in Sampson County; the son of the late William Edward and Lillie Smith Mathews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Yvette Everett; brothers, Henry Mathews and Johnny Mathews and sisters, Clara Davis and Virginia Mote.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-five years, Alma Whaley Mathews of the home; daughters, Kay Everett and husband, Carey of Wallace, Linda Giddens and husband, Kenneth of Goldsboro and Wanda Mobley and husband, Donnie of Wallace; grandchildren; Kevin Everett (Amy), Andrea Dixon (John), Brian Giddens (Mechelle), Kimberly Jackson, Amanda Giddens, Michelle Trull (Jason), Derek Mobley (Donna) and Jeremy Mobley (Malina); sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Eloise Whaley and husband, Johnny of Wallace and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Ezzell and Rev. William Tew officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

Casketbearers was Kevin Everett, Derek Mobley, Jeremy Mobley, Brian Giddens, Jerry Moore and Billy Whaley.

The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., one hour prior the funeral service at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.

In memory of William "Bill" Mathews it is requested that in lieu of flowers monetary gifts be given to Williams' loving wife, Alma Mathews, 113 W. Murray Street, Wallace, NC 28466.
