William Henry (Bill) Sebrell, 76 of Wilmington, NC passed away May 29, 2015 after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
He was born October 16, 1938 to the late William H. Sebrell, Sr and Hester Atkinson Sebrell Cavenaugh.
Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha M. Sebrell; a son William (Billy) H. Sebrell, III and wife Dawn Dubay, of Wilmington, daughter Sheilah Sebrell Blomquist and husband Robert of Elkton, MD; step-daughter Elizabeth M. Rabon and husband Ronnie of Leland, a brother Jay Sebrell and wife Judy of Ivanhoe; two sisters Joanna Sebrell Carter and husband Walter, and Margaret Sebrell Fussell Twiford and husband Bob of Castle Hayne; two step-sisters Gwen Cavenaugh Furlough of Wilmington and Carolyn Cavenaugh Fussell of Rose Hill; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a 1958 graduate of New Hanover High School. He served his country honorably in the US Coast Guard for 6 years and umpired many local baseball and softball games.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 4 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church located at 3801 N. College Road in Castle Hayne, NC 28429, where Bill was a lifetime member. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Officiating will be Wayne McBride and Robert Erkstam.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
