William "Bill" Claude Short, age 45, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 as a result of an auto accident in Rose Hill.

Bill was born March 1, 1965 in Duplin County, North Carolina and was the son of the late Walter Douglas and Ruth Terrell Short.

Surviving are his brother, Wally Short and wife, Tweetie of Rose Hill; sisters, Cathy S. Dixon and husband, John of Penderlea and Carol S. Duke and husband, Tim of Four Oaks; his nieces, Amanda Rivenbark and husband, Brad; Tonya Branson and husband, Gary and their children, Madison and Damian; his nephews, Brandon Decker, Eric Short, Morgan Decker and special friend, Jim Russ, Jr and family.

Bill loved his family dearly and was loved in return. With a kind heart and gentle spirit, he never met a stranger or anyone he would not help if he could. Bill will be greatly missed, but cherished memories of him will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 28, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Ross Cavenaugh officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.
