William Thomas Stokes, 50, of Garner died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Wake Medical Hospital.

Mr. Stokes was born November 8, 1957 in Wilmington. He was predeceased by his father, William Carroll Stokes and aunt, Edna Baxley.

William was a member of St John's Metropolitan Community Church in Raleigh and a former member of Oakdale Church of Wallace.

Surviving are his sisters, Gail Stokes of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Marilyn Stokes of Wallace.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Monday, October 13, 2008 at St John's Metropolitan Community Church in Raleigh with Rev Belva Boone and Pastor Terri Steed officiating.

The family will receive friends at Mr. Stokes home 3:00pm to 5:00 pm Sunday.

Graveside funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Sholar Cemetery on Lighthouse Road, Wallace.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service Tuesday at the home of Marilyn Stokes.
