Obituary

William Albert White, 78, of Rocky Point passed gently from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 5, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with family by his side.

He was born August 20, 1934 in Rocky Point, the son of the late William King and Alberta Frances Cowan White. Also remembered is his grandson, Bruce White; brothers, John White, Sr. and Ernest White and sisters, Marie Reaves, Dorothy Harts and Frances Brothers, all who preceded Albert in death.

Albert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel White; daughter, Sue Holmun (Tyler Dees); son, Jan White (Cheryl); grandchildren, Savannah Holmun, Casey Holmun, Ara Grainger, Janna White, Jared Williams, Zach Jones, Robert Shivers and Mollie Shivers; great grandchildren, Jake White, Bristol Graniger, Tyler Smith, Ashton Layer, Alivia White and Eleynah Williams; sister, Eva Jones; many nieces and nephews including Herbert Reaves; and granddogs, Finley, Annie, Barney and Gizmo.

Albert was a longtime faithful member of Pike Rocky Point Presbyterian Church. He served his country honorably in the Army National Guard. Albert was retired from Ideal Cement Company, City of Wilmington Street Division and Cape Fear Community College as a Truck Driver Training Instructor. In his early 20's Albert received his air plane pilot license and purchased his first airplane. His love of flying continued for many years and he taught flying for 15 of those years.

Cherishing his family above all else, Albert was the BEST husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend anyone could ask for. He was a man of honor and integrity who walked the walk of his Christian faith. If you had Albert White for a friend you had a friend in deed; one you felt free to call upon at anytime. Albert was a man of multiple talents who lived a full and enriched life. He leaves a legacy of faith, love, laughter and courage for all to remember and cherish.
