Obituary

William "Willie" Henry Young, 87, passed from his earthly life on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at his daughter's home. He was born August 3, 1928 in Rose Hill.

Willie Young was a hard working man. He was an electrician by trade and farming was his hobby. Even after his retirement, he worked on projects and growing vegetables and live stock. He was interested in raising hogs and cows, repairing things, building new equipment, and studying the Bible. He always tried to treat people the way he wanted to be treated.

Willie lived a long and fruitful life. He served in the US Navy for 6 years in Japan and Korea. He lived in North Carolina, California, and Arizona. He was a copper miner in Arizona for 11 years. He was a construction electrician for 30 years and worked all over the United States on power plants, bridges, and many other projects. He was married to Wilma Young for 53 years and lovingly cared for her in the last few years of her life when she was sick.

He is survived by two of his children, Michael Young, wife Sandra Young, Joyce Lorek, husband Andrew Lorek. His son, Patrick Young passed away in 2012. Grandchildren are Jessica Young, Andrew Lorek, Jr., and Amanda Lorek (Dewitt McKoy). Great grandchildren are Kira Lorek and Holden Lorek.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 11am with visitation at 10:00 am at Quinn Mcgowen Funeral Home in Burgaw. Pastor Matthew Dahmer will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Watha United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Michael Young, Andrew Lorek, Sr., Andrew Lorek, Jr., Holden Lorek, Chauncey Young, and Dewitt Mckoy.

Memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
