With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Willie Cavenaugh Wells, who peacefully entered the presence of her Lord on July 5, 2026 at the age of 95.
Born on August 25, 1930, Willie devoted her life to caring for others. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Throughout her life, Willie lovingly cared for family members during times of illness and hardship. Whether preparing meals, sitting beside a loved one, offering a comforting hand, or simply being present, she gave of herself freely and without expectation. Caring for others was not merely something she did—it was simply who she was.
If you ever visited Willie’s home, you were almost certain to hear her ask, “Have you eaten? Can I get you something?” Offering food wasn’t simply a habit—it was her way of making people feel loved. No one left her home without being offered something to eat. Around her table, conversations were shared, burdens became lighter, and family memories were made.
Willie found joy in the simple things in life—time with family, caring for others, sharing a meal, and listening to the music she loved. She lived a quiet life, never seeking recognition, but those who knew her best will remember a woman whose greatest happiness came from caring for her family and making others feel at home.
She is lovingly survived by her children: Steve Wells (Joyce), Stewart Wells (Vickie), Gary Wells (Angie), and Connie Capps (Greg). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Daniel Sears (Tee), Kimberly Cronos (Dewayne), Jeremy Wells, Joshua Wells (Shelby), Tina Seeley (Darren), Curtis Wells (Jocelyn), Crystal Wells, and Ethan Evans. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Kelsea Guyton, Olivia Cronos, Jojo Cronos, Everly Wells, Lilly Wells, Thomas Wells, Austin Seeley, Allicya Seeley, Madie Ard, and Rhaegan Wells; as well as several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Stokes Wells; her parents, Roland Oscar Cavenaugh and Vada Hanchey Cavenaugh; her sister, Ruby Holden; her brothers, Charles Cavenaugh, R.C. Cavenaugh, Frank Cavenaugh, and Sam Cavenaugh; and other cherished family members who welcomed her into Heaven.
While her family grieves her passing, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior and reunited with those who have gone before her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
