Willie Stevens "Steve" Springer, Jr., 72, of Kelly passed from his earthly life on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 14, 1943 in Stanley County, the son of the late Willie and Avis Elizabeth Spivey Springer.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Gloria B. Springer; sons, Robbie Gene Springer (Pam) and Rodney Harris Springer (Dolin Brown); daughters, Jeanie A. Altuzar and Stephanie Springer (Brenda Spearman); grandchildren, Zack, Nicholas, Amanda, Steven, Christopher, Geraldo, Teresa, Antonieta and Dafany; ten great grandchildren; brother, Larry Wayne Springer; and many extended family and friends.

Steve was retired after working 24 years with New Hanover County Landfill.

Not only was Steve a hard working good provider for his family, but a devoted husband and caring father, grandfather, brother and friend. Steve was a humble man who would give you the shirt off of his back. He never met a stranger and was quick to offer a smile and words of encouragement to others. Steve's passing leaves an empty place at our family table and in our hearts. He will be missed and always be remembered.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Pastor Paul Couch officiating. Burial will follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery at Steve's home in Kelly.
