Wilma Elizabeth R. Powell, age 74, of Leland passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 4, 2016.

She was born in Eden, North Carolina on March 29, 1942 the daughter of the late Jim Rieson and Hazel Stanley Rieson.

Wilma was a kind and generous person that devoted her time to the Blind Association for many years and was able to assist those who have lost their sight in teaching them new ways to do things in life. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother that enjoyed spending time in the company of her family. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband at their condo in Myrtle Beach and working in the yard side by side.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 57 years, Larry Jack Powell of Leland, NC; son, Larry A Powell and wife Sonya; daughters, Lavon Keith and husband Michael and Cynthia Lee and husband Paul; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Pat Stanley and numerous other loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Quinn McGowen Wilmington Chapel with Pastor Barbara Bell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington, North Carolina.
