Zennie Ernest Brown, 85, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on April 12th, 2013.

Ernest was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Christine Brown, his son David Earl Brown and his wife Leslie, his daughter Debbie Lawhorne and her husband Butch, and his daughter Donna Saunders of Branford, CT.

He was preceded in death by his parents Zennie & Lydia Brown, his son Ernest James Brown and his brother Leslie Brown. He is also survived by his brother Howard Brown and his wife Elsie of Temple Hills, MD, 2 grandchildren, Kenneth and Kristen Lawhorne, and sisters Dorothy and Thelma, all of Wilmington. Ernest was a veteran of the US Army, receiving his honorable discharge in November of 1947.

Ernest was also the owner of Z.E. Brown Paint & Body Shop for 25 years. His success in business can be attributed to his work ethic and the pride he took in the details that always left his customers satisfied. After retiring, Ernest pursued his passion for gardening and other hobbies such as aviation and woodcrafts.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 14th at 4:30 PM. at Quinn-McGowen Bradley Creek Chapel.

Ernest will be missed by all who knew him and we feel blessed to have had him in our lives.
