Alfred Eugene Fields, age 47, passed away peacefully surrounded by his friends and family whom he loved deeply. Alfred was born in Burgaw on January 25, 1976 and was the son of the late James Edward Fields and his loving mom, Polly Cain Fields. In addition to being proceeded in death by his dad, he was also preceded by both sets of grandparents.
Alfred was a good friend and a very loving and involved uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Alfred lived his life by the motto, “I entertain, I don’t maintain,” and everyone who knew him knew this to be true. When Alfred wasn't spending his time being, "the fun uncle," you would catch him out doing a couple of his favorite hobbies, hunting and fishing. Alfred worked and loved his job as an exterminator for Canady & Son Exterminating for over 20 years.
Alfred is survived by his mom, Polly; two sisters, Sarah Benton and her husband, Neil and Melissa Fields; nieces and nephews, Caitlyn Moffett, James Moffett, Tanner Benton, Kailey Newman, Avery Benton, Sophia Kong, and Wyatt Newman; one very special and best friend who was as close as a brother, Tom Riegel; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember the life of Alfred Fields will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Duke Lineberry officiating. Internment will follow in the Pin Hook Cemetery in Teachey.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
