Allan Dale Carter Obituary

Allan Dale Carter, 71, a beloved husband, daddy, grandpa “My Dale”, brother and loyal friend passed into the arms of Jesus  Monday, June 16, 2025 at his home, uplifted by loved ones in song and prayer.

He was born November 14, 1953 to Mervin Allen Carter and Beatrice Aliene Shepard Carter. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his twin grandchildren, Allan Michael and Brianna Lynn Carter.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia “Patty” Asbell Carter; sons, Nathan Carter (Melissa) and Patrick Carter (Ronni); granddaughter, Emma Carter; sisters, Thelma Padgett, Margie Coleman, Wendy Miller (Adrian); numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family  members - all who dearly loved him.

After graduating from Topsail High School, where he was star catcher of the baseball team, Dale went to work for General Electric. He retired after 38 years of service in both nuclear and aircraft parts manufacturing.

Dale grew up along Virginia Creek where he developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors.  His talent with horses began as a young child and led to many ribbons and trophies for racing and exhibitions.  He was honored to serve as secretary-treasurer of NC Concerned Sportsman’s Association. Although he enjoyed traveling throughout the South and Midwest hunting and for fox dog field trials, he was most at peace with his deer hounds in the woods of Maple Hill where he was a lifetime member of the Wallace Hunting Club.

Dale was graced with a beautiful singing voice and used it to bear witness to the gospel of Christ as lead baritone of the Sonrise Quartet.  He grew up in Blake’s Chapel Advent Christian Church, where he and his wife later served as youth leaders.  They enjoyed many years teaching and traveling with the young people of the church. Later, having joined Hampstead Baptist Church, he faithfully worshiped the Lord in song with the choir.

While battling Lewy Body Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, Dale was blessed to remain at home as he was cared for by his wife and family.  Morning visits to the BP station were the highlight of his days, where Miss Amy, Isaiah, and Jeff made certain his day started with a biscuit, coffee, and laughter. Their kindness truly improved his quality of life and extended his earthly days. The family is eternally grateful for their friendship and love!

A special thank you to one and all for every kindness and all expressions of concern given to Dale and his family. We thank God, our Heavenly Father, for the gift of friends and family and pray His eternal blessings to all.

The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Hampstead Baptist Church. Pastor Danny Justice, Pastor Joey Canady, Pastor Edward Dowd, and Pastor Chris Canuel will conduct the service at the church and cemetery.  Burial will follow in Edens Family Cemetery.

Following the Committal service at the cemetery the family will receive friends at the Carter residence.

For any friends or loved ones that wish to attend remotely, the service will be streamed on the Hampstead Baptist Church YouTube channel, Facebook page, and app.

Shared memories and condolences may be sent to the family by selecting Tribute Wall.
