Alpha Yvonne Strickland, 73, of Currie passed peacefully from her earthly life on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

She was born December 22, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Alpha Chaney and Daisy Ruth Johnson Morrison.

Yvonne is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Casper Devon Strickland; daughters, Sheila Simpson (Robert) and Tina Auten (Harold); sons, Micheal Strickland (Brooke) and Robert Leroy Strickland (Tara); fifteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

Yvonne first and foremost loved and served her Lord and was a faithful member of Broken Bread Fellowship.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and friend who filled her home with sunshine and goodness. Being a wonderful homemaker, Yvonne loved to cook, enjoyed family times together, as well as crocheting. Her gentle laughter, beautiful smile, and sweet spirit will greatly missed.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Broken Bread Fellowship, 908 E. Fremont St., Burgaw, NC with Pastor Curtiss Vann officiating.

The family will be at the home of Sheila and Robert Simpson in Currie..
