Arletta Joe Reed West, age 76, of Willard, NC left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Monday, October 12, 2020 from Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center of Wilmington.
She was born on August 12, 1944 in Adrain, West Virginia to the late Albert James Reed and Daisy Smith DeBarr. She was also predeceased by her husband, Willard West, Jr.; her daughter, Yvonne West; son, Ronald Wayne West; one granddaughter; sister, Louise Manack; and brother, James "Buck" Reed.
Surviving are her children, Willard Cecil "Bill" West and wife, Norma of Citrus Springs, Florida, Donald Ray West of Wallace, North Carolina, Teresa W. Johnson and partner, Vonva of Wilmington; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends that loved Arletta dearly.
Arletta was a caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family with all her heart. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was serving her Lord and her family. Being strong, courageous and yet gentle, Arletta knew 'what' she wanted and 'how' she wanted it. She was a lady in every sense of the word. Arletta loved the Lord and honored Him with her life while on this earth and she is now enjoying being in His presence. Arletta will be greatly missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Riverview Memorial Cemetery, Watha, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, 612 S. Norwood Street (NC Hwy 117 S.) Wallace, NC 28466.
Due to Covid-19, mask will be required and social distancing will be practiced.
