Barbara Elixson McLaughlin

     Barbara Elixson McLaughlin, 76, of Willard passed from her earthly life into her heavenly Glory on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

     She was born July 8, 1948 in Columbus County, the daughter of James Elixson and Reba Hardee Elixson. In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Gary Wayne McLaughlin and sister, Reba Phillips.

     Barbara is survived by her daughter, Angela McLaughlin Rice (Wendell); grandchildren, Steven McLaughlin, Wendell “Ivy” Rice IV, Ely Rice, and Waylon Rice; sister, Edna Moore (Edward); brothers, Jimmy Elixson (Hilda), David Elixson (Jo Ellen), and James Elixson, Jr. (Susan); many extended family members and friends.   

     Most important in Barbara's life was her beloved family. Family was her every thing. She was a loving mama, grandmother, and sister. Barbara was loved and will be forever missed. 

     The memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Gardner Eakins conducting the service.

     The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
