Beatrice Rouse Obituary

Beatrice Stokes Rouse, age 98, of Wallace left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from Vidant Duplin Hospital.

She was born June 18, 1923, in Duplin County; the daughter of the late Owen Thomas and Addie Sholar Stokes. Beatrice was also predeceased by her late husband, James Benjamin Rouse; granddaughter, Cindy Bivins; and siblings, William Carroll Stokes, Annie Thomas Stokes and Vada Adva Stokes.

Beatrice was a member of Oak Dale Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter, Virginia Leary of Wallace; her grandchildren, Chris Corbett and wife, Tammy, Heidi Lea Corbett, Sherry Corbett Laughey, and Tommy Hill, Jr.; great grandchildren, Leslie Corbett Cavanaugh and husband, Joshua and Emily Beth Corbett; great-great granddaughter, Izabella Jane Cavenaugh and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Beatrice dearly.

Beatrice was a loving mother and caring grandmother who loved her family with all her heart.  She was a 'lady' in every sense of the word.  Being a people’s person, Beatrice never met a stranger. With a big heart and a love of being with people, Beatrice was employed many years at Kramer’s Department Store in Wallace. During these years she developed many friendships that lasted a lifetime.  Beatrice loved her Lord and her church. Everyone who knew Beatrice knew she was a dedicated Christian by the way she treated others and lived her life. Beatrice will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
