Benjamin Hayes Horrell

    Benjamin Hayes Horrell, 85, of Wilmington passed peacefully from his earthly life Friday, August 6, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

    He was born November 25, 1935 in Bladen County, one of eight children born to Rufus Carr Horrell and Mattie Brown Horrell. In addition to his parents, Hayes was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mark Renn; sisters, Annie Mae Anders, Gertie Hilton, and Mary Dyson; and brothers, Norwood, Lawrence, Colon, and Carey Horrell.

     Hayes is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marilyn Barnhill Horrell; daughter, Rosilyn H. Renn; son, Arden Horrell and wife, Tonya; grandchildren, Marcie Caviggia (Brian), Arden Horrell, Jr. (Ashley), Carr Horrell (Keely), and Cody Horrell (Melissa); 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     With a great appreciation of the outdoors, Daddy loved fishing, hunting, and camping.  Hayes also enjoyed playing the guitar, harmonica, and working in the yard. Most of all, he loved and cherished his wife of 66 years and his family.

     The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Rowan Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 20759 NC Hwy 210 E, Ivanhoe, NC 28447 with funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.  Reverend Carey Horrell, Jr. will be conducting the service.

     Burial will follow in Johnson-Barnhill Cemetery.
