Betty Jane Jordan Brown

Betty Jane Jordan Brown, 91, of Wilmington, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Novant Health New Hanover regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Betty was born in Wilmington on May 18, 1934, the daughter of the late Marshall Barker Jordan and the late Martha Ellen Moore Jordan.

She lived her entire life in Wilmington and loved the beaches and the seafood. Betty graduated from New Hanover High School under the Diversified Occupations in 1952. She then worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the next 20 years. When her children got in school, she quit work to be a “stay at home Mom”. She loved cooking, growing flowers in her garden, sewing, embroidery, boating, fishing and collecting seashells.

Betty accepted Jesus as her Savior at a very young age and through out her life she was an active member of several area churches. 

Betty was married for 66 ½ years to her loving husband, Oscar Morris Brown. Jr. who passed away on December 6, 2019.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Susan Brown; her son, Randy Morris Brown and wife, Susan; her grandchildren, Kelsey Carter, Sydney Brown Keesecker and husband, Josh, Ryan Marshall Brown and wife, Lauren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritans Purse or to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Novant Health and Lower Cape Fear LifeCare for the wonderful care they provided for Betty.

A private graveside service will be held at Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Burgaw.
