Betty Lou (Moore) Leary

Betty Lou Moore Leary of Burgaw, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, after an extended illness. She was 86 years old.

She was born on October 18, 1934, in Burgaw, the daughter of the late James and Daisy Moore. Also lovingly remembered are Ernie, her husband of 65 years and her daughter Betsy who both preceded Betty in death.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Janice Reynolds (Stephen) and Amy Coker (Stephen), and son, Jason Leary (fiancé Dulsey Wilson); grandchildren, Robert Reynolds (Jessica), Benjamin Reynolds(Allison), Carol Coker, and Michael Leary; great grandchildren, Jacob, Paige, Riley, and Madelyn Reynolds; and many extended family and friends who all dearly loved Betty.

Everyone will remember fondly the many delicious meals that Betty prepared over the years. One of her favorite things to do was gather family and friends at the Leary house for cookouts and holiday celebrations. Her fried chicken was always perfect, and her pecan cakes were legendary. Betty also enjoyed working in her yard with her many flowers and shrubs. She was a loving and caring lady who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Due to COVID-19,  services will be held at a later date.
