Bobby Gene Blanton passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020.
He was born August 20, 1937, in Duplin County to Walter James and Lillie Mae Blanton. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his one and only wife, Jane Blanton; his sister, Judy Chestnutt; and his brother, James Earl (Pee Wee) Blanton. Bobby is survived by his daughter, SuLynn Specht, her husband Tim and their four children, Andy, Allison, Matthew, Samuel and one great-grandson, Theo; his daughter, LeAnn Evans, her husband Gene and their two children, Joshua and Megan; his sister, Linda Kuhn, her husband, Jerry and his special nieces, nephews and many other family members and good friends.
Growing up in Wallace, Bobby played football for W-RH, played bass in the band, The Rebels, drove a race car on Saturday nights, played golf with his buddies and went fishing at Topsail whenever the spots were running.
Bobby was a member of the National Guard for many years and a member of the Wallace Fire Department. He opened his own shop, Bobby’s Alignment and Radiator Service and was a successful businessman for over 50 years. Bobby loved his family, friends, Little Debbie cakes, kit kats, ice cream and a little “scooter” now and then (mostly every evening around 5:30 when his buddies showed up). He never met a stranger. Bobby was kind, generous and always willing to help when he could. His grin was as big as his heart. He will be missed terribly by the whole community and the surrounding areas.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery in Wallace.
