Bonnie Lee Mills Teachey, 88, of Rose Hill, left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Sunday, September 13, 2020 from Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.
She was born on March 19, 1932 in Pender Countyn North Carolina. She was one of ten children born to the late Joseph Z. and Viola English Mills. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Josephine Mills, Mavis English, Hazel Giddeons, Elwood Mills, Mary Blackburn, Bobby Z. Mills and Merrill Tiderman.
Surviving is her best friend and loving husband of 68 year, Henry D. Teachey; sisters, Armour Moore of Rose Hill and Alice Murray and husband, Major of Wallace; special friends, Gilbert Buckner and his wife, Terry of Rose Hill and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Bonnie dearly.
Bonnie was a devoted wife and caring sister, aunt and friend. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. Bonnie was a great cook, especially her delicious 'chicken and pastry' that she would cook for her family throughout the years. With great joy, Bonnie looked forward to her 4th of July Barbeque that she had for her family and friends as long as her health permitted. Her favorite past time was shopping, fishing, and square dancing. She was also a diehard fan of UNC Tarheels. Bonnie and Henry never had children of their own, but during their life they acquired two sons and a daughter of their choice, Joe Buckner, Gilbert Buckner and his wife, Terry Buckner. Bonnie and Henry loved them as they were their own and was loved in return. With her spunky personality, Bonnie wanted everything to be 'just right'. All in all, Bonnie was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace; and to those who knew her, “an instrument of God’s love on this earth.” She will surely be missed but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew Bonnie Lee Teachey.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Golden Grove Cemetery in Kenansville.
Memorial gifts may be given in memory of Bonnie to her home church, Mills Memorial Church, c/o Janet Highsmith, 10131 NC Hwy 53 W, Burgaw, NC 28425.
