Brenda Kay (Ivey) Gerganous

     Brenda Kay Ivey Gerganous, age 70, passed peacefully into glory Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCare following a lengthy courageous battle with cancer.

     She was born October 5, 1954, in Pender County, the daughter of James and Doris Pridgen Ivey. In addition to her parents Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Julie Ann Caison and brother, Albert Ivey.

     Brenda was a lady who was kindhearted and always looked at things realistically. She was a devoted wife to Clarence for 52 years and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and loyal friend. Most of all Brenda loved her family. Brenda was a fabulous cook; her pork chops and fried chicken were top notch. A favorite  of Brenda’s was eating out as she and Clarence often enjoyed together as well as sometimes with a friend. She was always a phone call away to her dearest friends. If you had Brenda Gerganous as a friend, you had a true friend indeed. 

     Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Clarence Edward Gerganous, Jr.; son, Eddie Gerganous (Anita); grandchildren, Alyssa Caison, Bryan Gerganous (Jill), Ashley Kenan (David), and Justin Gerganous (Sierra); eight great grandchildren; brother, Tommy Ivey; many extended family  members and dear friends.

     A memorial service will be held January 15, 2025 at 3:00pm at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Reverend William Pearsall officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. 

     The family suggest that in lieu of flowers you consider a memorial gift to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. They were awesome caregivers to Brenda and her family.
