Carl Davis Potter, 76, of Kelly passed gently from his earthly life Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Whiteville.
He was born October 10, 1943 in Bladen County, the son of Bill Henry and Erma Squires Potter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Horace Potter, William Roy Potter, Leon Ray Potter.
Carl is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandy Potter; children, Carl “Dave” Potter, Jr. (Dawn) of Kelly, Nancy Wilson Utterback of Whiteville, Jody Parks (Gregg) of Leland, and Leslie Smith (Johnathan) of Kelly; 15 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Lottie Mae Potter; brothers, Jerry Potter (Linda) and Travis Potter (Sue) all of Kelly; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Carl was a member of Centerville Baptist Church. Being an excellent mechanic, Carl worked on cars for many years. He enjoyed family cookouts where his famous homemade barbeque sauce was always a hit. Most important in Carl’s life was his beloved family. Carl’s passing leaves an empty place in our family circle and in our hearts.
The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Centerville Baptist Church with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Allen Murray and The Rev. Jack Miller will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Hargrove Cemetery.
