Obituary
Carolyn Coburn Chestnut, 78, of Atkinson passed peacefully from her earthly life Saturday, September 9, 2023 at The Laurels of Pender.
She was born July 5, 1945 in Whiteville, the daughter of Lyle Alfred Coburn and Florence LaPlante Coburn. In addition to her parents Carolyn was preceded in death by her son, Robert McCracken; and brother, Edward Coburn.
Carolyn is survived by her sister, Joyce Kirkum; brother, Richard Coburn and his wife, Claire; sister-in-law, Peggy Coburn; two grandchildren; three nephews and one niece.
Carolyn was a quiet, gentle, and kind lady who loved her family. She enjoyed taking care of, playing with, and receiving comfort from her mother’s little white dog. Carolyn was a homebody finding peace and solace in the calm of her home. Her presence in our lives will be missed.
A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2023 at Woodcock Cemetery with the Rev. Merrell McKoy conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
