Charles "Charlie" Aaron Batton

     Our beloved Charles “Charlie” Aaron Batton stepped into Glory in the late evening of Sunday (the Lord’s Day), June 1, 2025 at his home surrounded with love.

     He was born February 26, 1943 in Bladen County, the son of William Kaley Batton and Lydia McLean Cain. In addition to his parents Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, Murray Batton.

     Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley Batton; son, Tony Batton (Pansy); daughter, Tina Chestnut (Alan); grandchildren, Aaron Chestnut, Wesley Batton, and Brittany Norris (Brandon); great grandchildren, Landon, Owen, and Heidi; sisters, Clementine Singletary and Faye Rice (Jimmy); sister-in-law, Stella Batton; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

     He served his county with valor in the US Army, serving in the Vietnam war.

     Words that come to mind that describe Charlie are honor, service, integrity, and courage. Charlie was a spiritual Christian man who was kind and thoughtful of others. Family was his everything and always came first in his life. He was Papa to his grands who were a joy in his life. He was an excellent welder and was known as a jack of all trades as he could fix most anything. Charlie and his treasured boat along with Shirley were often seen floundering in the waters of the sound by moonlight on many nights. What wonderful memories the family has of good times.

     There will be a private family memorial service conducted by Pastor. Howard Harrell.
