Christine Lee Wood

     It is with sad hearts and wonderful memories we share with you the passing of Christine Lee Wood on Saturday, September 16, 2023. She passed at home tenderly cared for by her family and friends.

     She was born August 18, 1938, the daughter of Jerry Comeyer Lee and Mildred Taylor Lee. In addition to her parents Christine was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Samuel “Sam” John Wood; daughter, Janice Padgett; son, Jerry Padgett; sister, Mary Purcell; and brother, Leslie Lee.

     Left to cherish Christine’s memory are her grandchildren, Christopher Dail (Amy) and Marty Dail; great grandchildren, Kristin Jackson (Warren), Priscilla Dail, Ariel Dail, Zoey Dail, and Makayla Dail; great great grandchildren, Novalee and Hayden; many extended family and very dear friends.

     Upon receiving her nursing degree, Christine worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. After Sam’s retirement from the US Marine Corps, Christine and Sam married and settled in Hampstead, spending the next 20 years working and caring for the youth at the Boys and Girls Home in Lake Waccamaw. In Hampstead their church home was Blakes Chapel Advent Christian Church where both Christine and Sam were faithful servants of the Lord.

     Christine was the very essence of a Christian lady who loved and cared for her family. She also was quite talented – an artist, seamstress, and even ventured into woodworking with Sam. Christine was loved and will be missed.

     A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Blakes Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery with Pastor Steve Spearing conducting the service.. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.
