Cynthia Mobley Newton, born March 18, 1936 passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 4, 2025 in Portsmouth, Virginia.
She is one of two children born to Willis and Ruth Mobley. Cynthia graduated from Topsail High School in 1954 and from UNCW in 1977 with a nursing degree. She worked for New Hanover Health Department for more than twenty years.
Cynthia enjoyed reading, going out to eat, and cuddles from her cats, Tigger and Kanga.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Steve L. Ingram; second husband, Edward “Franklin” Newton; her daughter, Anita Quick and son in law, Russell Quick.
Granny as she is affectionately known is survived by her sister, Rebecca Albrecht; son, Steven Ingram (Wendi); and stepdaughters, Cathy Minard (Ray) and Gina Herring; grandchildren; Devon, Kara, Joseph, Nicholas, Kimberly, Casey, Leslie; great grandson, Keegan; niece, Maria; and special friend, Charlotte Stewart.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2025 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Wilmington Chapel, 315 Willow Woods Drive, Wilmington, NC with The Rev. Philip Eakins conducting the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
