Daphne Watson Spivey

     Daphne Watson Spivey, age 68, of Watha passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

     She was born November 30, 1954 in Bladen County, the daughter of Homer Wilson Watson and Lois Grace Jones Anderson. In addition to her parents, Daphne was preceded in death by her husband, William “Andy” Spivey; sisters, Jewel Johnson and Hazel Crane; and brother, Donnie Watson.

     Daphne is survived by her sons, Don Watson and Robert W. Lanier (Wendy); step-children, Kristy Hincher (Phil) and Kent Spivey; grandchildren, Justin Watson (Kelly), Colby Watson, Chase Watson, Amber Sellers, Hannah Lanier, Landon Lanier, Emmie Spivey, Leland Spivey, and Ireland Spivey; great grandchildren, Aubree Sellers and Evan Watson; sister, Hilda Hollis; brother-in-law, Charlie Crane; and many nieces and nephews. Not to be forgotten is her canine companion, Rambo.

     Daphne loved being outdoors in God’s wonderful world of nature. She loved all animals, especially horses which she could often be found riding up until seven years ago. Her own beloved horses were Patches and Honey. Working on the blueberry farm and a dairy farm gave her much pleasure. Daphne made friends easily and always made others feel like family. Most of all Daphne loved her family and was a loving mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and loyal friend.

     Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 at Hollis-Malpass Cemetery on Point Caswell Road, Atkinson. The Rev. Merrell McKoy will conduct the service. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
