David Edward Moore, Sr. 81, of Currie, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Edward was born in Pender County on September 20, 1939 to the late Roscoe Earl and Allene Flynn Moore.
In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn Ann Parker; and his brothers, Roscoe Moore, Freddy Moore, Kenneth Moore, and Willis Moore.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Myrtie Neil Dixon Moore, of 55 years; son, David Edward Moore, Jr.; daughter, Debra Ann Moore; brother, Robert Moore (Sheila); sisters, Merla Jackson, Jane Deal (Buddy), Brenda Miller, and Glenda Dennis; sisters in-law, Katie Moore and Anita Moore; several nieces and nephews; and his four legged companion, Sparky, of 16 years who he adored.
Edward served his country honorably in the US Army.
Edward was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Edward was an avid deer hunter, hunting on his own land in Currie. He also loved his career of farming, planting many crops such as corn, soybean, and hay, in addition to tending the land for the animals. He will be missed dearly.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Edward's neurologist, Susan Torres, who took great care of him for several years.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Moore Family Cemetery, located on Cane Tuck Road in Currie, with Reverend Billy Moore and Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating.
