David Flemming Woodcock, 81, of Willard passed gently from his earthly life Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 26, 1940 in Atkinson, the son of Claudie Woodcock and Floey Bradshaw Woodcock Wells. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, David Michael Woodcock, Jr., Garrett R. Woodcock, and Emily Grace Woodcock.

David is survived by his loving wife, Peggy E. Woodcock; children, David M. Woodcock (Carol), Sherry Deal (Mike), Steven Woodcock, and Jamison Woodcock (Jenn); step-children, John Ray Rodrick (Becky), Graham S. Best (Deven), and Carrie Langley (Raymond); nineteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Wells Arnett (Alfred); several nieces; and many friends.

David was a true Southern gentleman, soft spoken, and with a great love for his family. As long as his health permitted and with a green thumb he grew a bountiful garden each year. He enjoyed sitting in his recliner watching Westerns on TV. Most of all David  loved his family. He a devoted husband and the BEST dad and granddad anyone could ask for. Cherished memories will remain in our hearts.

A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Atkinson Cemetery with The Rev. Merrell McKoy conducting the service. Following the graveside service, the family will visit with friends at the cemetery.
