Diane Louise Bray, 79, of Burgaw passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Born December 29, 1941 in Los Angeles, California, Diane had been a licensed vocational nurse and stewardess with Continental Airlines when she met her late husband, Aaron, of 50 years.
After marriage she continued to do various odd jobs all the while caring for her family. Diane had quite the adventurous spirit and her many travels took her to the far reaches of the globe. She lived on two different islands in the Pacific, along all three coast lines of this nation, and visited almost all 50 states in the union. She took 20 cruises in and around the continents of the Americas, toured Europe and fell in love with the peoples of Southeast Asia.
Diane had a penchant for creative crafts and recently turned one of her guest rooms into a crafter’s paradise. Paints, glitter glue and ribbon abound. She was a loyal patron to Michael’s, Dollar Tree, JoAnn’s Fabrics, and Hobby Lobby, as well as Lowe’s and Home Depot.
Also, an avid gardener, Diane could be seen every evening watering the beautiful flowers that adorned the perimeter of her house. She loved planting new seedlings in autumn and couldn’t wait for them to arise in the spring. Upon hearing of her passing a neighbor exclaimed “she was the heart of our neighborhood!”
Diane is survived by her loyal schnoodle, Molly “Muddy Paws”; her daughter, Delores D’Amico along with her husband Vincent; three grandchildren, Sarah Boggs and her husband Michael, Accrina Grandin and her husband Kyle, as well as, Atticus Mills, who is currently serving in the United States Navy.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, 4202 South NC Hwy 11, Wallace, NC 28466. Service will be conducted by Wallace Branch President Tom Roper.
