Dominic Michael Hughes

     Our loved Dominic Michael Hughes, age 16 years, of Wallace departed his earthly life much too soon on Monday, May 1, 2023.

     He was born May 27, 2006 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

     Dominic is survived by his mother, Carin Gordon Wood; his fathers, Mark E. Hughes and Randy Wood; brothers, Riley Wood and Justin Wood; sister, Isabella Wood; grandparents, Buddy Cheshire, Kenneth and Denice Hughes, and Martha “Armma” Ahlquist; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

     Dominic was currently a junior at Pender High School where for the second year he was active in J ROTC, an activity he truly enjoyed. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Fishing Club at PHS.

     He was a fun loving young man who enjoyed a playful joke. When Dominic took a growth spurt and became taller than his mom and most of his family he took full advantage of it and was proud of every inch. One of the best times in Dominic's life was the hiking trip he and family took to a mountain park - a very happy family memory. His goal in life was to join the US Coast Guard. Dominic was loved so much by family, friends and his J ROTC buddies.

     Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Pender High School Gymnasium with Sgt. Major David Shaw and Col. Willie Themes conducting the service.
