Donald Richard "Rick" Crater, Jr., age 56, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

He was born on February 28, 1967 in Winston-Salem, NC to Linda Sheppard Crater and the late Donald Richard Crater, Sr.

Rick was a big fan of the Tar Heels and the Panthers. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. Rick was a blood donor, who volunteered for veterans organizations and loved helping others. He was a bright light to many people and he will be dearly missed.

In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by his son, Pierce Garland Crater; daughter, Madeline Sophie Crater; and special aunt, Bonnie Bumgarner.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Donald Richard Crater, Sr.

A memorial service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 4pm with Pastor Merrell McKoy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
