Donald Rozelle Padgett, age 88, of Watha passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born on July 18, 1932 in Pender County and was the son of the late Gilbert and Catharine Teachey Padgett. Mr. Padgett was also predceded in death by his brothers, Larry Padgett and Ricky Padgett and his sister, Bobbie P. Marshburn.
He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and devoted wife of 61 years, Alma Ruth Garris Padgett; his daughter, Roslyn Padgett and husband, Pablo Frez of Durham, his son, Jeffrey Padgett and wife, Sharon of Charlotte; granchildren, Preston Frez, Bradley Padgett, Jamie Padgett and Ainsley Padgett; great granddaughters, Elle and Emma Padgett; sisters, Sylvia Pierce of Watha and Sherry Bond and husband, Harvey of Watha; special brother-in-law, Douglas Garris of Watha and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Donald dearly.
Donald was a good husband and caring father, grandfather and brother. He was a hard worker, very motivated and greatly enjoyed working. With a love for the outside, Donald loved planting and farming. His favorite pasttime was restoring old 140 Farmall Tractors and could make them look brand new. His favorite sport was baseball. Donald was a serious man but his grandchildren could put a genuine smile on his face. When they were around he was the happiest. Above all, Donald was a good man who was loyal, dedicated and responsible. He was a man of great integrity who loved his family and his Lord. Donald will surely be missed but memories of him will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Graveside funeral service wil be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday May 8, 2021 at Watha United Merthodist Church Cemetery.
