Obituary

Donald Wayne Brock, age 77, of Willard, North Carolina left his earthly life for his eternal rest on August 25, 2023.

He was born on February 23, 1946 in Harnett County, NC.; one of eight children born to the late Moody Whitford and Agnes Claire Burgess Brock.  Mr. Brock was also preceded in death by his brothers Floyd Brock and Fred Brock; sister Dorothy Bain; brother-in-law Hugh "Buck" Bain and sister-in-law Becky Brock.

Mr. Brock proudly served his country in the US Army as a combat medic.  He was a member of Antioch Church in Willard.

Surviving to cherish his memories is his soul mate and wife of 56 years, Althea Giddens Brock; his son, Martin Brock and wife Gretchen of Pa; daughter, Michelle Digiovanni of Wilmington; grandchildren, Justin Brock, Lauren Digiovanni Lane (Clayton), Jacob Digiovanni, Lizzie Horchler (Paul), Richard Whitley, Ashleigh Robertson (Will); great grandson Daniel Thigpen; great granddaughter Kaesyn Brock; brothers, Eldredge Brock of Virginia, Larry Brock (Patricia) of Durham, Robert Brock (Shelby) of Greensboro and Roy Brock (Ann) of Durham; numerous nieces, nephews extended family and friends that loved Wayne dearly.

Wayne was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather, and brother.  He was a giver of himself to his family and to his community.  With a compassionate heart and love for his wife, Wayne was Althea’s caregiver for over 13 years.  Wayne served his community by providing insurance for over 47 years.  He owned his own agency, “Associated Insurance” for over 20 years and later merged with SIA Group. During these years, Wayne became well known and highly respected in the Duplin, Pender and surrounding counties for his honesty and loyalty to those he served. Most of all, Wayne was devoted to his family, and they were first in his life and he made sure they were provided for.  He loved his church and was faithful as long as his health permitted. Wayne will surely be missed but treasured memories of him will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
