Donna Squires Corbett

    Donna Squires Corbett, 73, of Burgaw passed peacefully from her earthly life on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at The Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.

    She was born March 5, 1948, the daughter of the late Robert Oliver and Marguerite Horrell Squires. Along with her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, David Michael (Mike) Corbett December 17, 2020 and infant daughter Leslie Lynn Corbett in 1974.

    Donna is survived by her 2 sons Brent Corbett and Wife Jessica of Watha, NC and Kyle Corbett of Jacksonville, NC.  Donna had 2 very special grandchildren, Ethan and Riley Corbett of Watha, a Sister, Cathy Thornton and husband Kenny of Kelly, NC and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many extended family and friends.

     Donna attended Kelly School through 8th grade and Graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1966.  She graduated with an Associates Degree from Campbell College. She was a member of Burgaw Baptist Church for many years where she was active in the WMU and many other committees through the years.  Donna worked as the Church Secretary at Burgaw Baptist Church for 27 years.

    Donna was an extraordinary woman of God whose resounding faith and love for family was unmatched. She was a true example of what it meant to be a Wife, Mother, Grandma, Sister, and Friend. Her presence in our lives will be forever missed but we find solace in knowing she is at peace and rejoicing with her Almighty Father.   Donna will be remembered for her kindness, humble personality, and caring heart.

     In an effort to remain safe during this time of the COVID-19 crisis, Graveside services will be at 2p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at The Corbett Family Cemetery near the NC Hwy. 210/NC Hwy 11 intersection in Kelly. The Rev. J. Allen Murray will conduct the service.

     Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions can be made to Burgaw Baptist Church.
