Donna Ann (Sitts) Genatiempo

Donna Ann Genatiempo, 73, of Wilmington, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Cedar Cove Nursing and Memory Care in Wilmington.

She was born on November 14, 1951, in Gloversville, NY, to the late Donald and Esther (Mouyios) Sitts.

Donna was considered “Mom” to many when her daughter was young, as all were welcome at her home. She had a long career as a library assistant at Gloversville Middel School in Gloversville, NY, before retiring. After moving to Wilmington, she often volunteered at New Hanover Regional Medical center. Once her grandchildren were born, she played a pivotal role in their upbringing. She enjoyed walking, playing Bingo and Scrabble, and spending time with her friends at the Senior Center at Castle Hayne Baptist Church. Donna was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her loving family and all who knew her.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Stacie Merritt and husband, Rick; her brother, Jim Sitts; her beloved grandchildren, Savannah Merritt, Josie Merritt; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Donna was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Genatiempo.

A graveside service will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville, NY, date and time to be announced.
