Dorothy Bishop Bland, 88, of Burgaw passed gently from her earthly life Saturday, March 28, 2020 at The Laurels of Pender.
She was born March 10, 1932 in Magnolia and was the daughter of the late Owen Smith Bishop and Idell Dixon Bishop. Also remembered is her husband, Cecil R. Bland, Sr. and brother, James Riley Bishop both who preceded Dorothy in death.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Vickie B. Smith; son, Cecil Rayvone “Ray” Bland, Jr. and his wife, Paula; grandchildren, Amanda Turner (Matthew), Brittney Holshouser (Steven), Austin Eury, Brooklyn Stephens (Patrick), and Jeremy Bland; eight great grandchildren (with one more great grandchild on the way); brother, David Bishop; and many extended family and friends.
Dorothy was a caring, loving and giving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Being an excellent seamstress, Dorothy, in her younger years made many of her children’s clothes. She enjoyed the simplest things in life, but family was her pride and joy. In recent years, Dorothy enjoyed Seek and Find puzzles and spending time with family. We will keep sweet memories of Dorothy in our hearts.
At a later date there will be a graveside service for Dorothy and Cecil at Riverview Memorial Park where they will be laid to rest side by side.
Shared memories and condolences may be sent to the family by selecting Tribute Wall.
A service of Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.
